Location
Nestled in the heart of Karlovy Vary, the Grandhotel Pupp boasts a prime location, overlooking the picturesque spa colonnades and the winding Teplá River. Its enchanting setting amidst the rolling hills offers guests not only a tranquil retreat but also a glimpse into the area’s natural beauty.
Historical Significance
The Grandhotel Pupp traces its roots back to 1701 when it was established by Johann Georg Pupp. Over the centuries, it has expanded and metamorphosed into the architectural masterpiece it is today. Throughout its existence, the hotel has played host to a plethora of royals, artists, and politicians, each leaving a mark on its storied history.
Hollywood’s Affair with Grandhotel Pupp
The hotel’s opulence and classic European charm have not gone unnoticed by Hollywood. Most notably, it served as the location for the 2006 James Bond film, “Casino Royale”, starring Daniel Craig. Additionally, it has made an appearance in “Last Holiday” with Queen Latifah and in Shanghai Knights starring Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson. This has cemented the hotel’s status as a location of cinematic luxury and intrigue, drawing movie buffs from around the globe.
Unparalleled Spa Facilities
Karlovy Vary is revered for its therapeutic thermal springs, and the Grandhotel Pupp maximizes this natural wonder. The hotel offers a state-of-the-art spa that utilizes the mineral-rich waters for a variety of treatments. From classic massages to modern wellness therapies, the spa caters to those seeking both relaxation and rejuvenation.
What made us happy was that staying in the hotel during the week and not during the weekend gave us the advantage of having, especially after 19:00, all the spa accommodations almost only for us!
We enjoyed every single afternoon of our stay a variety of Saunas and Steam rooms with or without herbal at 45, 60, 80, and 95 °C. Of course, the swimming pools with air massage beds were amazing as well and not populated at all after 18:00.
Do not miss the opportunity to get some face and body treatments and of course to enjoy some of the massage sessions that are available! Coming to Karlovy Vary and skipping all those experiences is like going to Santorini and missing the sunset!
The Karlovy Vary International Film Festival
The hotel has an enduring relationship with the prestigious Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. Being one of the oldest film festivals in the world, it attracts cinephiles and industry professionals annually. Grandhotel Pupp often plays host to some of the festival’s key events and celebrity guests, further enhancing its reputation as the epicenter of luxury and culture in the region.
Conclusion
The Grandhotel Pupp is not just a place to stay; it’s an experience, a journey through time, luxury, and elegance.
